Parappa Cafe – Review!

So there’s a limited time Parappa the Rapper themed cafe at Tokyo Skytree here in Tokyo. It opened on April 20th for the 20th anniversary of the game, and lasts until the end of this month, so sadly that means it’s ending soon. I’m so happy I was able to get the chance to go there myself, because I absolutely LOVE Parappa!! I’m so happy I was here for a theme cafe like this that I’m actually interested in. Here is the website with the information!

If I was able to afford it, I would have purchased everything on the menu. Sadly themed cafes are really expensive, so I was only able to purchase a few items. Two of which were the parfaits that came with a souvenir cup of Parappa and PJ Berry’s faces on them. Now I have cute tiny cups to drink some juice from!!

First of all, I bought these food items thinking they would just be aesthetic based and not really tasty. BOY was I wrong!! The Sunny Funny breakfast sandwich didn’t look like too much at first, but when I bit into it I was pleasantly surprised that is was FREAKIN’ DELICIOUS!! I also wasn’t expecting the egg yolk to still be gooey, (which I love) so everything worked out beautifully. Like maybe it’s just me, but looking at the menu photos from this above and bottom tweet, the non-drink items on the menu don’t look that amazing as far as food quality goes? So it really was a nice surprise to get Parappa themed food that also tasted great lmao.

Again, I ordered a food item (the Parappa sandwich) thinking it wouldn’t be anything spectacular. Twice I was proven wrong!! It was packed with chicken, onions, tomato, olives, lettuce, AND avocado!! Pretty much anything with avocado in it wins me over though. But dang, it was SO good. As far as which sandwich was better, it’s actually really hard to say. They were both amazing haha. I DID, however, think that the PJ Berry Parfait wasn’t that great. It was extremely rich, and the white cream is only whip… there wasn’t anything really substantial in it, just a bunch of fluffy sweetness (the Parappa parfait was a really yummy mango sorbet)! Both of them has sweet pieces of cake and corn flakes at the bottom which was a nice addition for texture variety.

I didn’t get the chance to try the Chop Chop Master Onion (Tamanegi Sensei) item, which was a curry onigiri and onion soup. It sounded really good so I’m sad I won’t get the opportunity to have it. The other fancy parfaits ALSO look amazing, and I wish I could try those too. Dang the themed cafe items for being so expensive  ;__;

Next door to the cafe there was also a small gift shop with new Parappa-themed merchandise for sale. I was really excited since I have never found Parappa merch before, but… unfortunately the items in this shop were extremely overpriced so I didn’t end up buying anything  U___U   Bah!

One last note: I went to the cafe with my friend Kiki! She actually sketched this comic while we were sitting at the cafe eating our goodies! I was probably not doing a good job of concealing my excitement from being at the cafe, so this is what she drew lol (inks and colours by me, of course).
